You've grown the business. But the business is relying on you too much.
The way it runs just needs to catch up.
Pick a time. Fifteen minutes is all it takes to know if this is worth pursuing.
As businesses grow, they naturally outgrow the informal systems that got them there.
The Challenge
- Customers don't always get the same experience.
- Every employee has their own way of doing the job.
- You're still spending too much time putting out fires.
The Fix
Systems & SoftwareEvery system gets documented, capturing the knowledge in everyone's head.
Crews & CommunicationEvery department delivers the same consistent service, and has clear lines of communication to prevent wasted time.
Sales & MarketingCustom quoting is simpler, quality upsells offered, Google Business listing optimized, plus creative marketing at no extra cost.
We build the conditions that continue long after, which is exactly why it pays for itself.
The Fieldwise Method™
Your business is successful, growing, and has talented people.
They just need clearer expectations and practical processes that allow them to do their best work.
Before that gap gets any wider.
Here's the plan (without interfering with your active jobs):
Tap any step below to see the details.
We get on the phone for fifteen minutes, wherever you can spare them. Your truck, your car between jobs, your lunch break. Walk through how your business runs, and hear exactly how Fieldwise can handle the heavy lifting. No sales pitches, just direct answers.
Fieldwise embeds alongside your admin and field crew to shadow daily routines, map out hidden bottlenecks, and identify exactly what is throwing a wrench into your growth.
Fieldwise doesn't hand you a binder of homework and walk away. It measures what's really happening, diagnoses the root cause instead of just the symptom, builds the fix directly into how your team works, and stays on the ground until it sticks. It's the same root-cause thinking big manufacturers use, just adapted for a crew your size.
See a sample discovery roadmap
This is a generalized example of the kind of roadmap used for a multi-city, 100+ employee company.
Coordination between departments
- Where hand-offs happen between sales, production or warehouse, and delivery or install
- How much still relies on a phone call or a walk-back instead of something everyone can see
- Whether scheduling is aligned across every team, or prone to overlap and surprises
Sales and quoting
- How long it takes to go from an inquiry to a quote
- Whether pricing is consistent no matter who's writing the quote
- Easy upsells or options customers may not know to ask for
Production and fulfillment
- How accurately materials and inventory are tracked
- Where time gets lost during building, prep, or fulfillment
- How well production communicates with delivery and install teams
Market position and referrals
- Where the strongest referral relationships already are, and room to grow them
- How pricing compares to others in the market
- Common reasons a prospective customer chooses someone else
Standardizing custom or complex work
- Clear starting prices and markup ranges that protect margin
- Reusable templates instead of rebuilding every quote from scratch
- Whether sales has real-time visibility into capacity before quoting a date
What a typical week looks like during Discovery
A short daily sync with the relevant managers to flag priorities and unblock decisions. Time on the ground observing how work actually happens, not just how it's described. Regular short updates to ownership on what's being found and what's changing.
Who We Serve
The Cost of Doing Nothing
You can probably name at least one frustration that continuously loses you available profits.
- Employees waste time on repetitive work and inefficient tasks.
- Inquiries slip through when your website isn't optimized.
- Revenue is left behind when high-profit services aren't offered.
- Opportunities slip away when clients don't get a follow-up.
- Growth creates a mountain of unnecessary daily stress.
The problem is rarely the problem
That's why we offer a free 15-Minute Business Answers Call.
During our conversation, we'll pinpoint:
- Where you're losing time and leaking profit.
- What opportunities you might be missing.
- How to fix what's causing you the most stress right now.
You'll leave knowing your biggest areas for improvement and what to fix first. No sales pitch or hard sell.
If Fieldwise is a good fit and you want to continue, great. If not, you'll still be better off than before.
Targets include 10-30% less rework, 20-40% fewer handoff errors, 20-50% faster follow-up. Real, compoundable margins of profit.
Here's the truth: you already know something has to change. Most of us have been there: overloaded, reactive, and holding it all together.
This isn't for everyone. It's for businesses ready to take action.
Typically serving established, growing trade and service businesses with $1M-$10M+ in annual revenue.
The Difference Fieldwise Makes
Employees know what success looks like.
Customers receive a dependable experience.
Leadership has full visibility into daily operations.
The business scales smoothly and profitably.
What Makes Us Unique
We combine the efficiency of Lean Six Sigma with the behavior science of Industrial-Organizational (I-O) Psychology.
In plain terms:
Lean Six Sigma cuts out wasted steps so work gets done faster with fewer mistakes.
I-O Psychology is about understanding why people actually change their habits, so the better way of doing things sticks.
For a $4M business, cutting out wasted steps and getting your team on board can easily save 2% to 4%.
That puts $80,000 to $160,000 right back into your pocket. That's real money on the bottom line, not just a smoother week.

Data Research
The targets throughout this section are Fieldwise's own starting benchmarks for a typical engagement, not figures pulled directly from the studies below. What the research does establish is that the underlying approach, specific tracked goals, role clarity, well-designed feedback systems, and sustained training support, reliably improves performance. The citations back the method. The numbers are ours.
- R1 - Goal-setting and accountability. One of the most replicated findings in applied psychology: specific, difficult, tracked goals consistently outperform vague ones or "do your best" instructions, with effect sizes (d) ranging from 0.42 to 0.82 across four decades of meta-analytic replication. Locke & Latham (2002), American Psychologist.
- R2 - Role clarity and job performance. A meta-analysis found role ambiguity has a real, moderate negative relationship with job performance (ρ=-0.21), meaning unclear expectations measurably hurt output. Tubre & Collins (2000), Journal of Management.
- R3 - Feedback and accountability systems. A meta-analysis of 607 effect sizes and 23,663 observations found feedback interventions improved performance on average (d=0.41), but over a third of them made performance worse, depending on how they were designed. Poorly built accountability systems can backfire. Kluger & DeNisi (1996), Psychological Bulletin.
- R4 - Training effectiveness and transfer. A meta-analysis of 89 studies found that whether training actually changes on-the-job behavior depends heavily on a supportive work environment after the training ends, not just the training event itself. Blume, Ford, Baldwin & Huang (2010), Journal of Management.
- R5 - Lead response time and conversion. A 2007 study of over 15,000 leads and 100,000 call attempts found contacting a lead within 5 minutes versus 30 minutes made contact 100 times more likely and qualification 21 times more likely (Oldroyd, MIT Sloan / InsideSales.com). A separate 2011 audit of 2,241 US firms found the average first response took 42 hours, and contacting within an hour made qualification about 7 times more likely than waiting longer. Oldroyd, McElheran & Elkington (2011), Harvard Business Review.
- R6 - Standardized handoffs and communication quality. Peer-reviewed patient-safety research consistently finds that standardizing how information is passed between people at a handoff point reduces errors and omissions, the same principle behind aviation and hospital safety checklists. Coon et al., Neurology: Clinical Practice; also see 150-sample team-communication meta-analysis by Marlow et al. (2018).
About Fieldwise
When you're in the middle of running a business, it's difficult to step back and see what's really slowing things down. The problems become familiar. The workarounds become routine. Before long, reacting every day starts to feel normal, and normal is exactly what makes it easy to put off fixing. I know, because I've lived it myself, not just watched other people live it.
I started Fieldwise because I kept seeing the same pattern. As businesses add locations, crews, or customers, they naturally outgrow the informal systems that got them there. Stronger systems aren't a sign something's broken, they're what keeps a growing business running well.
I've spent more than 16 years building businesses and helping other owners build theirs, including founding and scaling a national business and a network of partners and vendors across the country. That experience means understanding how businesses actually function, not just in theory, but in the day-to-day work of leading teams, managing partnerships, and growing at scale.
Today, Fieldwise specializes in trade and service businesses to strengthen the operations behind the work they do best. Every engagement follows the same root-cause thinking large manufacturers use to fix problems for good, adapted for a business your size: find what's actually broken, fix it so it stays fixed, and build it in a way your crew will actually use.
A lot of the businesses I work with aren't just businesses. They're family operations, a spouse doing the books at the kitchen table, kids who grew up riding along in the truck. That changes what's actually at stake in getting this right, and I take that seriously.
I believe every person, regardless of their role, should be empowered to work at the top of their abilities. I don't believe in micromanaging. I believe in clear expectations, practical support, and giving people the opportunity to succeed.
Your business is one of a kind, built by you, shaped by your people, and run in a way that's entirely your own. That's exactly where I start, and it's why what we build together will always be about your business, not a formula.
Carly Cylinder, Founder
Where the name comes from
Field is expansive. It's the wide-open space where skilled trade and service work actually happens, out in the world, not behind a desk.
Wise means moving forward smarter, not just harder. It's also my maternal grandmother's maiden name, carried forward in this business the same way I hope to help carry your business forward.
Frequently asked questions
Click any question below to expand the answer.
Do I need new software?
Probably not. Most businesses already have more software than they need. The issue is usually execution, consistency, communication, or visibility. The first step is determining how to make what you already have work better before recommending anything new.
Will you implement AI?
Only if it genuinely makes your business easier to operate. AI isn't the starting point. The focus starts with creating lasting behavioral change, accountability, and consistency in how things get done. From there, technology gets evaluated for where it can genuinely save time.
What types of businesses do you work with?
Established trade and service businesses, typically $1M-$10M+ in annual revenue, where growth is accelerating and complexity is increasing. That often looks like communication becoming more difficult, consistency getting harder to maintain across crews or locations, or leadership wanting greater visibility before small issues become expensive ones.
How quickly will I see improvements?
Many owners leave the very first conversation seeing their business differently. Some improvements happen immediately. The biggest improvements typically happen during the first 90 days, because implementation begins right away.
How much money can this save my business?
A disorganized business is quietly draining money out of your pocket every single week it stays that way. Miscommunication, rework, repetitive tasks, fragmented systems, and misaligned processes all add up, and they don't fix themselves. The goal is to stop that drain now, then keep building on it.
Our Approach
Five steps, every engagement, whether the fix takes a week or three months. This isn't a report or a strategy session. It's direct, hands-on implementation.
Observe
Real time watching how work actually happens, not just how it's described on paper.
Measure
Pulled from existing workflows to see where time, money, and consistency are being lost.
Diagnose the Root Cause
The underlying process gets fixed, not just the visible symptom.
Implement
Real systems and accountability built into daily operations, not ideas on a whiteboard.
Sustain the Change
Building buy-in and following up over time so it holds after the engagement ends.
Making Change Last
The best kind of systems are the ones actually used.
Clear purposeEveryone understands why the change matters, not just what to do.
Early winsSmall, visible results build momentum fast.
Real ownershipThe team adopts it because it's genuinely theirs.
You built this company to create freedom.
You didn't start this business to spend every day putting out fires. The longer that continues, the harder it gets to reverse.
Done-for-you implementation. Built for busy owners. No endless strategy meetings.
